FAQ

Do I need to register as a listener (passive participant)?
No, passive participants do not register for the conference. Admission is free.
Where can I find information about the presentation requirements?
General information can be found in the conference regulations. In specific cases, special requirements (e.g., regarding equipment or time limits) may be provided – these will then be posted on the conference website or Facebook page.
Is the number of seats limited?
The number of people attending a conference panel simultaneously (the conference is usually divided into three panels) is limited only by the venue where the event takes place. If you wish to attend the conference with a very large group, please contact us by email in advance.
Who can participate in the conference?
The conference is aimed at students from any field of study, but other adults who do not have student status may also participate.
How long are the speakers' presentations?
Conference presentations are scheduled for 12-15 minutes, depending on the number of submissions.
Will there be an online stream?
Yes, since 2020 we have also been streaming the conference on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@mathup7323.
How long should the presentation take?
12-15 minutes depending on the edition - this information is provided more precisely directly to the speakers about a week before the conference.
In what language will the presentations be given?
Presentations are delivered in two languages: Polish and English.
Do I have to be at the conference from beginning to end?
A passive participant can attend any part of the conference. However, please keep in mind that entering/leaving during presentations can distract both the audience and the speakers. Therefore, the suggested minimum attendance time is an entire panel.
Will I get an excuse from classes if I attend the conference as a viewer?
Certificates of attendance are planned, which can be presented to instructors in order to excuse an absence. However, the final decision on this matter rests with the instructors.
Can I come and listen with a friend from outside the university?
Yes, as long as they are an adult (18+).
Will there be an opportunity to ask the speakers questions?
Yes, after each presentation there is a short time scheduled for Q&A. You can also use the coffee break between panels for this purpose.
Will there be any way to review the speakers' work after the conference?
The entire event is recorded and made publicly available on the YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@mathup7323. Furthermore, selected individuals have the opportunity to write a chapter for a monograph, where you will be able to read about the applications of mathematics they presented.
Is a post-conference monograph planned for this year as well?
Yes, the publication of another monograph is planned.
What happens if one of the two registered speakers does not make it to the conference (due to personal reasons)? Will they receive a certificate of participation?
According to the conference regulations, certificates are issued only to those who present. In special circumstances, it might be worth asking the organizers if they allow the remote participation of one of the speakers - and if the previously registered person is able to accommodate this, it is worth taking advantage of such a solution.
Can I come for just one presentation?
Yes, you can come for just one presentation. However, it is worth mentioning that entering/leaving during presentations can distract both the audience and the speakers. Therefore, the suggested minimum attendance time is an entire panel.
Are speakers provided with accommodation and lunch?
Coffee breaks are scheduled between panels during the conference. Lunches are not provided. Depending on the funding received by the organizers, speakers might have the opportunity to apply for free accommodation for the night preceding the conference (such information will be posted on Facebook prior to the conference).
